Regardless of whether you ask a child in a kindergarten or a resident of a nursing home in Skjern, they know about Sahl Cykler & Legetøj. The business has existed for more than 100 years, which means that everyone in the local area knows about Sahl. It is one of our visions that we must be a business you can come to throughout your life. As a child you can find toys and your first bicycle. As a young person and an adult, you can advance with, for example, a mountain bike or electric bike. And as an elderly person, you can find walkers, electric scooters or cabin scooters in our store.

Good customer service is the most important thing to us, and it's not just something we say. We do not want a sale at any price. We only want a sale where the customer comes back and says they were happy to do business with us. That's why you can't, for example, just come in and point at a bike and say: "I want it". As bicycle experts, we will show you three different bicycles, and we would ideally like to ride with you around the city to be sure that we find the right bicycle for you. The same philosophy applies to our entire product range. That is why we have many loyal customers with whom we have a personal relationship.

We do not sell a product in the store that is not the best on the market. If you come in and ask for a good bike helmet, you will be told that we only have the best bike helmets. This applies to our entire product range. We do not deal with anything that we cannot vouch for ourselves. We don't sell a bike helmet that we wouldn't put on our own children's heads. Otherwise we can't sleep at night.

Sahl Cykler & Legetøj is a business with more than 100 years behind it. It has belonged to several generations of the Sahl family until it was sold in 2013 to a couple who are old friends of the family. Uffe Mikkelsen is trained in the business and has worked for several years at Sahl Cykler & Legetøj – Uffe as a bicycle mechanic. Uffe has chosen to continue the store with the same name and values as it has always had.

 

1896 : Jens Sahl, apprentice rope maker, starts the company with a modern rope shop. 1906 : The company opens as an actual shop, where Jens and his wife Christiane sell rope articles, brush goods and tools. 1938 : Jens and Christiane's son, Hans Peder, comes home to the business after the death of the father. He is a trained wooden shoemaker and expands the business to include bicycles, mopeds and clogs. 1958 : Hans Peder and his wife Oda expand the range to also include toys. 1976 : Hans Peder and Oda's son, Jens, takes over the business after Hans Peder's death and runs it in collaboration with his mother. 1984 : Jens' wife Randi takes over the toy department. In the same year, the business moves to larger premises. 2013: Jens and Randi sell the business to Uffe Mikkelsen – the first owner outside the Sahl family. Uffe is responsible for the bicycle department and is responsible for the toy department. 2016: Uffe expands the business to also sell aids for the elderly. 2018: The store moves to new and larger premises at Østergade 9-11 in Skjern.
